Washington, D.C. assesses earthquake damage

WASHINGTON DC EARTHQUAKE FELT THROUGHOUT NYC, VA AND OTHER AREAS ON THE EAST COAST. Now who would thought "Earthquake in NYC?" Yes it happpened on August 23rd. I didn't know there was even an earthquake until some of the people in the building I work in kept asking if I felt the earthquake-my mouth literally dropped, I felt NOTHING! I'm pretty sure because I work on the first floor and they're upstairs past 5th floor. Below is a picture of how the earthquake did its damages. Also below is a video on the earthquake. Here are some of the damages from the DC 2011 earthquake.
"Preliminary reports are indicating that a 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in Virginia at 1:51 pm EDT., according to the USGS. Shaking has been reported as far north as New York. Reports of shaking have also been coming in from the New England area. According to the USGS, a magnitude 5.5 Eastern US earthquake can typically be felt as far as 300 miles away. The USGS reported that epicenter of the quake was located in Louisa, Va. just southeast of Charlottesville and northwest of Richmond. The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was half a mile deep. Shaking was felt at the White House and all over the East Coast, as far south as Chapel Hill, N.C. Parts of the Pentagon, White House and Capitol were evacuated. There were no immediate reports of injuries."

Absolut San Francisco

Sometime last week I went to somewhat my nearest Wine & Spirit store to get one specific bottle for a friend (Absolute Brooklyn), now the saleswoman came out with Absolut San Fran I told her "Absolute BK" but then I took a closer look and asked her to come closer-yeah I did. I asked her "Ma'am is that San Francisco?" she said it was. I asked of course for the price and thank God it was no more than $20. So not only I got my friend's bottle but got my Absolut San Francisco :-) I came out happy haaaaa! ...for some reason I felt like I needed to get it not only because it's something I've never tried before but an "outsider drink" in my city-why not? I also feel some type of connection which I guess because I've been to SF before and fell in love with the city. I am glad I got it.

You can enjoy it with either OJ or just over ice because it's already flavored.

Absolut Creates San Francisco Vodka-YUMM!

"Just in time for San Francisco Gay Pride, Absolut Vodka has introduced a "limited" SF edition. Following on the heels of New Orleans, Loas Angeles, Boston, and (oddly enough) Brooklyn flavors, San Francisco is the fifth city to receive the company's boozy bottle honor. But does it taste good? Normally, flavored vodka taste like corn syrup-tinged diarrhea. (Some might say the same about plain vodka, but those types are usually pretentious mixologists. You need to ignore those people.) In an effort to review the allegedly hella-SF booze, we demanded a PR representative to deliver a free bottle of Absolut SF to our front door posthaste for immediate tasting. Well, not really. But close. And since we couldn't personally judge the stuff for review, because it was sent pro bono, we asked two dear friends / target audience subjects, a male homosexual and a super-cool bartender who prays at the bourbon altar, for their opinions. After sipping Absolut SF over ice, our gay pal said, "Hmm, not bad. But you know me. I'll drink anything." Our bartender friend, after sniffing and then taking a conservative pull form the bottle, revealed, "Hmm, not as bad as I thought it would be. Even kinda OK, I guess. I don't know." You hear that? "Even kinda OK." As for your SFist editor? Sure, we liked it. As with most people, we enjoy clear things that make us woozy. It's flavored with grape, dragon fruit and papaya, which, according to Alcademics, "were selected to represent the city by paying tribute to the Wine Country, and Asian and Latin cultures." A bottle runs $20 (which isn't bad at all)
